Easy peasy to use
Adrian G.
Easy to install and setup. Can handle heavy material blinds with no problem. Only comment is to ensure controller is not installed directly in parallel to blinds. Else blinds will catch on controller when operating up or down.
Very happy with purchase.
Gary P.
It really can handle the weight of my shades I have tried others couldn’t handle the weight

i am test marketting ' at home ' before offering to my Blind Clients ... So far So good ..... However have a few questions ...
When will the Remote Control be available to purchase ?
As the SmartShade Unit is too large to fit inside the window recess alongside the Roller blind the blind bottom bar ' hits ' the unit . So if fitted ' forward ' or ' outside recess ' the blind chain would be on a slant ... which looks awfull IMO . However it still works ok even if the slanting chain ' Rubs' on the window frame / recess .
I am working on a trial where the loop chain passes through a wooden / pvc window sill ( pre drilled holes ) to connect with the Unit fitted UNDER the sill ..... as long as there is enough space under etc. I will let you know how I get on and post some pics . SBD

It makes opening the shades behind a tight furniture wall space easy and convenient! Ordered another for our office.

Love my RYSE devices - I started with the bedroom and now have one for every room. Easy to install, use and live with!
Donald D.
The Ryse was easy to install and works great through the app. Will definitely be purchasing additional ones for the other rooms in the house.
Dennis M.
Easy to install and works like a charm. Looking to upgrade more shades in my home based on this great experience!
Mr G.
Easy to fit and work’s perfectly , just ordered another

Works flawlessly.

I am writing to report a defect with the right-side unit of my motorized shade system. Since installation, the device has exhibited persistent and escalating malfunctions: it initially refused calibration, then calibrated erratically without consistent results; it changes direction without input; it fails to stop at preset positions; and it fully unravels the shade beyond its set limits. These issues are not attributable to user error or installation, as the left-side unit operates correctly under identical conditions and settings.
The pattern of failures strongly suggests the right-side unit is defective and requires replacement, not troubleshooting.
I submitted a formal complaint on Saturday and have not received any response. I am requesting an immediate follow-up, a clear timeline for resolution, and confirmation that a replacement unit will be provided. Please contact me at your earliest convenience.
ZOLTAN D.
Great product works amazing. Fairly easy to set up and connect.
Silas Y.
Great. Easy install
Stephen B.
Overall I am very happy, but the Alexa interface doesn’t work well. The response time is very slow and it doesn’t always execute the right commands.
David T.
Love the quality of this product, feels really well made, have added more around the house, very happy with them.
Shad S.
I like to ask Siri to open my blind.
Thomas G.
I bought some of the first units they had 8 or 9 years ago under the axis app and they still work great. I have been adding some blind motors to some other windows recently that didnt have anything in them. They always work well, I have them hooked up with Alexa to close them by voice if needed. I use the scheduling part on the app to have them open and close at certain times I really like them, I recommend them.
Craig C.
We loved the automatic shades so much for our bedroom we just bought 3 more for the living room.
Getting the smart bridge also so that it can all be voice controlled. total game changer!!! We love it!
Gordon H.
Great product.
I would prefer a hand held remote other than using my phone or pressing the button on the mounted unit.
Lynn N.
Installation went well with the step by step videos for installing.
Jane R.
My shade opened in a corner here I had to negotiate a sofa, lamp and cords to heating pad and lamp. Now I don't have to worry about tripping over all that to raise my shade.
David G.
I have wanted to automate my blinds for over a year and RYSE honestly made it super easy. I did some research and other competitors have a limit to how high your shades can go and how heavy they can be. I have two massive bay windows in my living room and the shades require a great deal of effort to open and close. My girlfriend’s Aunt no longer needs to ask us to manually pull the chain and automation means it’s open during the day and closed at night. Set it and forget it.
Richard C.
Works great. Now I don't have to get up/down/up/ down to adjust the shade because of sunlight.
John B.
Installed fine and so far works fine. I would have given it a five star but it is a little tricky to set up the programming part of the installation.
Judy S.
I love being able to control the shades from my phone!
Asif B.
works as advertised
Eduardo N.
Amazing product to use on an existing window system. It runs smoothly and effectively. The instructions to install the unit were extremely helpful.
valerie d.
able to lift a 9 foot span of cloth shade and blackout backing.
Robert S.
These are great and really easy to install. I wish I purchased the hub to simplify control even more.
Nickol C.
Was hoping that it would work on my very long heavy shade and it does!
Eduardo
Incredible online video resources to help with your installation needs. Incredible little device truly elevates your room with the sophistication of the app.
Simon C.
Installation is pretty straightforward, if you follow the instructions. Depending on the size of the shades the torque on the chain can be extreme and cause the chain to snap. Adjusting the speed setting helps reduce the stress.
Karen M.
This works as advertised- I was able to install it myself and it’s so convenient.
Valerian U.
We like that just by a push of a button we can easily close or open the shade.
Nitin B.
installed one in the the living room. Working great so far, will wait a year to see how reliable it is!
Tracy C.
Installed these in my kitchen where the shade cords are hard to reach (we had them put there so when our kids were little, they wouldn't be able to pull on them or be a safety hazard). It was always a hassle to open and close the shades and now it's SO EASY. The SmartShade was easy to install (took about 15-20 minutes per unit). I don't have the remote, but am thinking about it since right now you have to have the phone with you in order to use it.
Les P.
Great add on for opening and closing on a schedule.
Sinoj J.
Excellent powerful smart shade, integrates with google home
Elad O.
"Alexa, Good Morning"! Incredible. It just works.
Donny T.
Just received these and can't wait to install them on my heavy blinds to our deck! Bought the hub too, so it should integrate seamlessly into our smart home system
Robert P.
works as advertised. Very happy with it. Using it on 12' wide slider.
Daniel F.
A few random disconnects but overall worth it.
Erik W.
These have been a long-awaited addition to my southern-facing windows!
Le'Nard D. C.
Love that it works with my Alexa.
Brien O.
Straightforward installation process went quickly, integrated right into my smart home features.
Richard F.
We have a lot of small windows and each had their own blind. Now just one button and done
Charnelle L.
Love it so far!
ERWIN L.
It was fairly easy to install. Works great. We have a 10' x 5 livingroom window and the couch is in front of the window. This makes it so much easier to to open and close the shades. My wife loves it.
Linett N.
Best purchase I’ve made in a while!
Edwin H.
Installation and pairing unit to home wifi not straightforward if you have security systems in your home.

Love it!! Really elevates my space

I have been looking into trying the Ryse smartshades for a couple of years now. I figured my blinds were too heavy. I noticed your Facebook ad where you apologized. I read up on the shades and noticed they work on any weight. There was a black Friday 20% off sale so I figured I would give them a try. I couldn't believe it but they worked great and installation was straight forward. I ended up purchasing another one and in the near future I will purchase 3 more to use on my patio window blinds. I can't believe it took me so long to try them. A very happy customer here.
Vidya Nathu ..
Easy to install!
Dawn J.
Just made me so happy to have the ability to add the autorise to my recently purchased window treatments
Paul B.
Hello, we love everything about the Reiss curtain, but we seem to be now missing the back cover of the main part. Without it, the cog wheel looking part is showing. Can we please be sent to back cover?
Otherwise, everything works great!!
Dean D.
They don’t work with the newer cords that aren’t beaded.
Lennert M.
Saw your ad on Facebook and was skeptical at first. Went to your website and researched the product. Ordered and received it. Installation was very easy and it works very well on our 9 ft patio shade. I have ordered a second one that is wired for our kitchen.
It is a very nice product and thank you!
John E.
such a bad experience…. I put on the provided ball linkers but they still seem to get stuck in the machine (especially when going up). Also because the blinds are tight it makes a terrible screeching noise that wasn’t there before. In addition, the calibration doesn’t work properly.
Tom F.
Took me awhile to install mostly because of changing out connectors on the beaded cord. But it works great on my large shade. Bought another one and should be a quick install.
Carmelo A.
Not crazy about the bulkiness of it, the instructions to mount. It’s not clear feel like you were stuck with the device if it goes down cannot manually operate.
Fahad E.
Excellent product, good quality
Refah R.
Happy that it lifts heavy shades
Matthew S.
Love the unit. Was able to integrate it into a shade that was in the home before I bought it, that did not have motorization. If I didn’t have this option, I would’ve had to change the entire shade to add a motor. Also planning to buy it for windows I have with shades that were too small to add motorization.
Gary
Works great especially with the app options and apple home, Alexa, and sync.
I would’ve preferred written instructions as I missed a few steps during the initial installation. Aside from these minor issues I finally got it all set up and now we’re planning for more window shade upgrades.
Thanks for the quality product.
Alfred M.
It’s a fine product. The devices should be matter enabled without a bridge or allow another bridge like a raspberry pi instead of the additional purchase but as the only apple HomeKit enabled product I guess it stands alone. In HomeKit then it should have more features than up and down.
Catherine
I love these so much I bought two more for other windows in the black friday sale!
Bryce S.
A great solution to an existing shade that didn't have smart control
Nicholas Y.
Love the overall convenience but one note: you'll need the hub in order to setup routines (with the device as is, you can only raise and lower the blinds from the buttons on the device or the app itself).
The other thing to flag: the app is quite flaky. I usually find that I have to try to adjust the blinds about three times before it successfully engages (the first two times the app will vend me an error).
Overall, I do enjoy the device quite a bit but it is certainly not without some notable drawbacks.
Grant
Finally a company that does it right!! Bit of a steep price point when ya need 8 for 1 bedroom apartment. Come on RYSE.. lets put some better packsges together.
ARNAV G.
We recently installed the RYSE SmartShade Wire Free to automate our cord-run drapes and the experience has been very good—largely delivering on the promise of smart home convenience—but with a few caveats to keep in mind.
What Works Well
1. Retrofit friendly for drapes
The big win is that we didn’t have to rip out the entire drapery track or replace the drapes themselves. The unit adapted to our cord-run setup fairly cleanly and allowed us to motorize the movement of the drapes along the track without major alteration.
2. Smooth and quiet operation
Even though drapes are heavier than simple roller shades, the SmartShade handled the movement smoothly and quietly. It starts, moves along the track, and stops without noticeable jerkiness or loud motor noise. Good for living rooms or bedrooms where you don’t want distractions.
3. Clean cordless appearance
Since it’s a wire-free (battery) motor, there are no dangling power cords or visible modifications, which is a huge aesthetic plus with fabric drapes and decorative tracks. The battery pack is compact and doesn’t interfere with the drape’s fullness or appearance.
4. Reliable smart controls
Using the RYSE app, scheduling the drapes (open at sunrise, close at dusk) worked flawlessly. Integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Home let us voice-control “Open curtains” or “Close drapes,” which gives that smart-home layer we wanted.
What to Watch / Could Be Better
1. Track shape and drape weight matter
While the system worked great for our medium-weight drapes on a standard cord-run track, the manufacturer’s spec sheet does suggest limitations on very heavy fabric or trickily shaped tracks (curves, bay windows, etc.). If your drapes are ultra-heavy or track runs around curved profiles, you may run into motor strain or performance slower than expected.
2. Battery runtime varies
Because drapes move more fabric and have more friction than roller blinds, battery consumption is higher. We found we needed to recharge more often than with lightweight roller shades—every few weeks rather than months. If you automate frequent movements, you’ll want to budget for battery swapping or schedule fewer cycles.
3. Extra cost when scaling
One motor on a major window is fine. But if you want to automate multiple drapes (living room, master bedroom, large windows), costs climb—each motor + optional hub adds up. Also, if you have asymmetric drapes or dual-track setups (left + right panels), you’ll need two motors or a dual-motor version and track compatibility becomes more critical.
Final Thoughts
If you have existing cord-run drapes and want to upgrade them to smart, automated operation without tearing out the track or replacing the fabric, the RYSE SmartShade Wire Free is a very solid option. It hits most of the marks: smooth movement, aesthetic integration, smart controls. Just be mindful of the drape weight, track layout, and recurring battery maintenance.
Overall Rating: 4/5. Great solution for automating drapes, especially if your drape setup is standard and you don’t have super heavy or custom-curved tracks. Scale carefully.

Product does what it says and is easy to operate through the app. Can't ask for much more than that.
Stephen O.
This was easy to setup and works well.
Ilan B.
I have six shades operated by the wire-free SmartShade. I started with the older model about 7 years ago, then changed two of these to the new model. Recently I changed the other two older models with the new wire-free SmartShades and added two more. So now I have six controlled shades, organized in two groups.
The shades are very easy to install and operate. Rise provides excellent on line tutorial videos on YouTube, and the customer service (kudos to Pranav!) is outstanding.
I also used briefly the SmartBridge, which is also very nice and easy to install and operate, but personally I do not need its features (use of Alexa or scheduling). With years of experience, I can attest that the SmartShades are extremely reliable, quiet and the rechargeable batteries keep the charge for months on time. I love how the shades can be operated through Bluetooth from my iPhone or iPad, individually or in groups.
Bottom line: I highly recommend the SmartShades by Ryse.
Tommy L.
Was not able to install on metal as described. Unit was also not able to successfully calibrate/rest following instructions. Returned all products. Very disappointing.

Great solution for automating your blinds and operate them on a schedule
Kadie O.
Set up a schedule to automatically open and close. Worked the first day. Second day the entire shade came crashing down. Clearly the device wasn’t calibrated correctly and it kept rolling, so far that the entire shade rolled off the tube. App showed it as 11% open. The 2nd device I got didn’t pass the BILT test. Clearly quality issues. App is laggy and leaves a lot to be desired. Support process isn’t clear (instructions mention you’ll get a link via SMS to join but instead someone called be via FaceTime which was unexpected and sort of weird. Ryse has potential but a lot of issues to work out before it’s worth the price.
Justin W.
The total price to retrofit existing shades is excellent - recommended for those who want the convenience of automated blinds without undergoing a huge project.
Caleb M.
I love the shades. I have them for everyone room in my house
Carol W.
Easy to install, works well so far.
Tom H.
Love my RYSE. Soo easy to install. Buying three more.
James W.
Response via email was spectacular. Heard back from Sappho literally within minutes each time I had a question.
David N.
Very good product, easy to install and use
James H.
I’d like to give an honest review of these shades, but I can’t the customer service is so bad that it’s impossible to get the product that I want and return the products I don’t want. Support is by chat, and it’s slow, unreliable, and cumbersome. They may have a great product. I don’t know. I do know that the customer service and ordering and return process is cumbersome. It’s bad enough that I would not recommend buying their product.
