The SmartShade works well and has no issue opening and closing my heaviest shade in my home. I wish I was able to set schedules without the use of the SmartBridge. Regardless I’ll likely be ordering two more of the SmartShades and a SmartBridge to set schedules.
This was the first one I got and it has made the shades in my apartment usable.
I love RYSE! I had been wondering how to automate my blinds and was so happy when I found I was able to do so with RYSE at a fraction of the cost it would have taken me to replace the blinds.
I recently tried out the SmartShade with Battery Pack. and it's been quite a mixed experience. One of the standout features for me is the user-friendly button system. With five easily adjustable levels. it's a breeze to set the perfect amount of shade or light in any room. The installation process was fairly straightforward as well. which is always a plus. However. there are a couple of aspects that left me somewhat dissatisfied. First and foremost. the size of the device itself is a bit of a letdown. When placed in the window. it feels a tad bulky and obstructive. It would have been nicer if the design was more streamlined and less obtrusive. Another downside is the HomeKit integration. While it's great that the SmartShade can be integrated with HomeKit. the requirement for a separate hub feels like an unnecessary extra step. It would have been far more convenient if the integration was more direct and hub-free. Perhaps the most baffling aspect to me is the lack of intelligence when it comes to recognizing sunrise and sunset times. Living in the Midwest. I know that daylight hours can vary drastically throughout the year. ranging from 5:30 to 9:30 PM. It's disappointing that the SmartShade isn't able to adapt to these changes and operate more intuitively based on natural light conditions. In conclusion. the SmartShade with Battery Pack has its pros and cons. The user-friendly buttons and easy installation are definite positives. but the device's size. the separate hub requirement for HomeKit. and the lack of automated sun tracking are notable downsides. especially for those of us in regions with significant daylight variations.

My video explains it better, but I am not a handy person and decided to install this myself, thinking I knew what I was doing...The installation is actually SO EASY if you understand how big holes need to be and how to use an anchor in the wall! This taught me how to do that (the hard way, but gotta learn somehow lol). Make sure your battery is fully charged and then just push it into the RYSE device.The extra bracket is not necessary if you have a wall like mine. Once it's screwed in then you download the app, pair it with the device (use the PAIR option on the top of the device). Then you set your upper & lower positions (use the SET option on top of the device). That's literally ALL!You can also set routines - I currently have mine set to open at the same time as the sunrise, you just set a routine in the app! This has been my "alarm clock" the past couple of weeks! I didn't get the extra accessory that allows you to pair it with Alexa, but I probably will end up getting that since all of my lights are already integrated with Alexa.Overall, they're a huge money saver instead of buying all new automated window shades! I'm in a rental and these are the shades it came with, so it's nice to have this device to automate these ones instead of getting all new ones and installing them, then finding a place for the current ones until I move out. Definitely the best option out there and already ordered more for some other windows in my home!
Outfitted my entire highrise unit with Ryse! I love that I can open and close any shade or all shades from the comfort of my sofa or bed.

I have really heavy shades and was nervous it wouldn’t be able to manage or battery would be drained too quickly trying to lift it. I even only ordered 1 kit just to test it on heaviest shade first. I wanted one solution that would work for all my big and small shades. Turns out it can lift heavy shades no problem and I love the added voice control and routines! My wife loves to say Hey Google, put down the shades without lifting a finger anymore. Also for a 2nd generation device, I’m happily surprised by the quality and engineering. I imagine this is what Apple would have made if it was in the SmartShade business. Like other reviews said, make sure to take all the excess give out of chain or it won’t work well. I wish they had more in the setup instructions about that as I put a couple holes in my wall to find the right placement. I love my Ryse and will be ordering more for other windows!
Great product. Installing on a continuous metal chain is very easy, but installing on a joined plastic chain is very difficult, however my professional contractor eventually managed to achieve a good result. Highly recommended

I have a corner that’s hard to access so I bought these. It’s very nice to not spend the time yanking on the bead chain, and they hurt my hands. The app is annoying because often it doesn’t connect right away so I have to wait and try again. I also kept having an issue and after just replacing the parts a few times, was recommended to call someone to figure out what was causing the actual problem. Turns out the connector they send and say you must use doesn’t fit in the sprocket with heavy blinds. It runs over the teeth causing my chain to continually stretch out. So I had to replace my chain which also caused damage in my rental. It’s a little disappointing that a part they say you must use caused such a big problem for me. But we got it figured out with a splicing tool and now they work great.
Bracket is difficult to install with screws. Tape strips should be included. Bracket & shade roller too wide to install between my living room blinds

My blinds are pretty large (9' tall) and heavy. I am impressed that the Ryse blind motors do the job pretty well, however a little slowly. The Smart Bridge was super easy to connect, and all the blinds were easy to name, group, and control with the app. Installation was not as simple as the videos make it look. I had to change the sprockets in the lifters to fit the beads on my blinds, which took some time. I also had to replace the bead connectors. My only disappointment with those is that they are noisy when the joiner bead goes through the mechanism. I have not yet had success adding the bridge to my Apple HomeKit, but will keep working on that. The app, however, works perfectly! If all keeps working as it is now, I will remain very happy with my purchase!
We recently added the Smartbridge to our Ryse system and it works great. We live in Southern California and can now adjust two of our two blinds to lower as the hot afternoon sun hits our house. The blinds then go up as the sun sets and it is all hands free. We will be adding more SmartShades to our other windows in the near future and they can all be controlled by the Smartbridge. GREAT SYSTEM!!!

It’s not the cheapest, but it’s paid for itself in convenience and more. My home feels like a luxury hotel, and once the setup is done and blind heights are calibrated, it’s a breeze. Super impressed with the high battery life on the wire free version, and now I’ve set it up with my Google home for voice automation and routines.
